Streambox announced this week it was among the key partners behind a CNN digital newsgathering project that was awarded the 2007 IBC Innovation Award for content creation as well as the Judges' Award.

CNN's complete digital newsgathering project relies on the Streambox ACT-L3 Portable Video Transport solution used by the network in its remote coverage of the Israeli-Hezbollah conflict in July 2006.

Using Streambox's encoding technology, journalists were able to file hundreds of live reports with portable IP transmission gear that fit into a backpack and yielded images delivered over IP-based networks in tandem with satellite uplinks. The project has allowed CNN to deliver high-quality breaking news reports from around the world.
