Thales unveils new Ultimate, Optimum transmitter families

Both transmitter families from Thales cover a power range of 500W to 60kW for analog operation and 125W to 15kW for digital application.

Thales Broadcast & Multimedia has released the Ultimate (UHF) and Optimum (VHF) families of television transmitters designed for analog, DVB-T and ATSC operation.

Both transmitter families cover a power range of 500W to 60kW for analog operation and 125W to 15kW for digital application.

The philosophy behind the development of the transmitters was to produce common modules, such as amplifiers, power supplies, and control units for digital and analog transmitters so that to change from analog to digital operation required only swapping out exciters.

Thales has built Digital Adaptive Precorrection into the Ultimate and Optimum families. With the technology, the performance of the transmitters is protected from fluctuations resulting from aging, temperature and transistor failure. DAP automatically corrects for such fluctuations to maintain consistent signal parameters.
