Twin Cities public TV deploys Omneon server

With its open architecture, Omneon’s Media Server System supports an array of third-party applications for control and transmission.

The Twin Cities Public Television (TPT) in St. Paul has deployed Omneon’s Spectrum Media Server System.

To be used along with Florical’s broadcast automation system, the Spectrum will ingest content recorded during local legislative sessions and from PBS promotional feeds, and access those files directly with Final Cut Pro editing systems.

The Omneon server system’s ability to interface with new and existing broadcast systems over TPT’s local area network and compatibility with standard NLE file formats has enabled the facility to shift its production activities to a tapeless environment. As a result, each producer can view the ingested and finished product stored on the Omneon server from any PC in the building.

With its open architecture, Omneon’s Media Server System supports an array of third-party applications for control and transmission, media management, archiving, and collaborative production, allowing media to be shared among many users and applications. As a modular system designed with a scalable, distributed architecture, the Omneon Spectrum gives users flexibility in scaling systems components and capacity in small or large increments as desired.
