Zucker says future of NBC News is not broadcast

NBC Universal president Jeff Zucker said last week that the future of NBC News is not the broadcast network, but online and pay-television services.

“We are just living in an incredibly different world,” Zucker said at a entertainment and media conference last week at Harvard Business School.

Zucker said NBC News is lucky to have MSNBC. “The definition of NBC News is really changing,” he said, “and it’s becoming more MSNBC and MSNBC.com.”

Zucker criticized print journalists for writing about the demise of NBC’s broadcast news. “The thing they want is for the [TV-news] business to die faster [than the newspaper business], because that’s what makes them feel better,” he added.
