Live 8 uses tons of gear

The Live 8 series of concerts last month turned the world into one big music and pro audio party.
The shows took place on stages in London’s Hyde Park; Paris’ Palais de Versailles; Berlin’s Siegessäule; Rome’s Circus Maxiumus; Philadelphia’s Museum of Art; Barrie, Ontario’s Park Place; Tokyo’s Makuhari Messe; Johannesburg, South Africa’s Mary Fitzgerald Square; and Moscow’s Red Square.
Artists included Annie Lennox, Coldplay, Elton John, Madonna, Paul McCartney, REM, The Cure, Green Day, Bon Jovi and Def Leppard.
An estimated 2 billion people heard the shows carried on a variety of broadcast outlets, including live coverage on three BBC channels, the BBC World Service, MTV, and a live Webcast carried by AOL.
Live sound at the London show was provided by Britannia Row, which employed a large Electro-Voice X-Line system, more than 200 EV P3000RL amps and EV IRIS software. At the Berlin show, Sonic Sound with support from Nordic Rentals and Mega Herz used Electro-Voice PAs, MIDAS consoles and Klark Teknik active splitters.
