Video phones allow betting on-the-go

Earlier this month, horseracing fans in Hong Kong began analyzing races, watching live race footage and betting on their favorites through their mobile phones.

Since Dec. 17, 3G customers with video mobile phones have been able to watch live races on the go by logging on to 3’s Racing Channel and selecting live horse races from Sha Tin or Happy Valley race tracks.

Working with the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC), 3 began providing real-time race clips and betting services.

3 Hong Kong is currently the only 3G operator to provide mobile video horse racing. The live horse racing service is available for a monthly fee of $25. The company’s high-speed video streaming technology provides high-quality video images of races live on 3G video mobile phones.

Users can check the latest results and dividends on all racing pools and watch races live with Cantonese or English commentary.

Apart from broadcasting races live on video mobile phones, 3 also provides a variety of reference information on horse races via the Racing Channel. The channel provides text-based, voice-based or video-based racing information.
