ESPN and Sprint PCS are launching a new service for sports fans next year. The service will provide customers with news, analysis, graphics and more.

ESPN will launch a new service with Sprint PCS next year to give sports fans on the go instant access to streaming audio and video coverage of the latest sports action.

The service, dubbed ESPN Mobile, will also offer a variety of sports programming and entertainment from the sports network, including news, information, commentary, analysis, statistics, graphics and photos. ESPN Mobile will sell network-branded phones, accessories and applications. With the service, Sprint is hoping to attract a loyal audience to its wireless phone network and stimulate consumer demand for high-speed data services.

ESPN will control billing, customer relations, pricing, packaging and distribution for the new service. Sprint PCS will be responsible for the nationwide cellular phone service.

The cost of the service and other details have not yet been decided.
