ESPN360 marks 2005 milestone
ESPN360 marked a milestone with its exclusive Dec. 6 coverage of the Villanova vs. Bucknell basketball game, which it became the 100th live event covered by the network’s customized broadband service.
ESPN rolled in trucks, a production team and announcers for the game, which was only present on ESPN360 - not on TV or elsewhere online.
FSN Florida, Sun Sports, Miami HEAT take six regional Emmys
The Suncoast Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has recognized FSN Florida, Sun Sports and the Miami HEAT for programming and production excellence by awarding the networks and the team six 2005 regional Emmy Awards. Florida’s two FOX-owned and -managed sports networks and the HEAT each won two awards for their commitment to quality programming.
CSTV to rebroadcast Army-Navy game
College Sports Television (CSTV) will air two encore presentations of the 106th Army-Navy football game, played Dec. 3 and originally aired by CBS.
The CSTV re-broadcasts on Dec. 10 and 15 are indicative of the ongoing relationship between CBS Sports and CSTV. In November, CBS announced plans to acquire CSTV in 2006.
SureWest to carry HDNet programming via IP network
On Tuesday, SureWest Communications announced that it would offer HDNet sports, entertainment and movies as part of its HDTV service.
When launched later this year, the service will become the first to offer HDTV programming commercially over an IP-based fiber-to-the-premises network.
Live HDNet sports productions include National Hockey League and Major League Soccer games and NASCAR Grand National Division auto racing.

ESPN names Casanova
ESPN announced the appointment of Gerardo Casanova as the network’s first-ever general manager in Mexico.
Casanova, who will be based in Mexico City, will be responsible for all of ESPN's business operations in Mexico, including its core television business and the development of new opportunities.
