Hitachi unveils Z-DR1 hard disk recorder

The Z-DR1 recorder has a removable MediaPac media (HDD) available in capacities ranging from 20 to 120GB.

Hitachi Denshi has introduced the Z-DR1, a tapeless recorder for its professional camera models.

The Z-DR1 recorder docks to the company’s Z-series cameras and uses digital recording compression at 25Mb/s. It supports AVI and MOV file types, which are often used in NLE systems.

The unit recorder has a removable MediaPac media (HDD) available in capacities ranging from 20 to 120GB. The MediaPac houses Hitachi Travelstar 2.5in hard disk drives that are presently the industry standard in laptop PCs and other mobile multi-media devices.

Hitachi is offering an optional MediaPac that allows installation into a PC or Macintosh NLE. The HDD simply goes from the camera to the NLE making the video ingest process seamless.
