ABC News offers World News Tonight, GMA to cell phone users

ABC News has begun offering several news reports and shows on demand to cell phone subscribers of Sprint, Nextel and AT&T/Cingular.

The network, which will make available “World News Tonight with Peter Jennings,” “Good Morning America” and business and entertainment reports to mobile users, is working with 1KTV, a wireless video on demand service provider.

By 2009, about 22 million people in the United States will watch mobile video content, roughly the same number with high-speed Internet access today, according to industry analysts.

With the announcement, ABC News joins FOX Sports, The Weather Channel and Variety, as 1KTV clients offering on-demand television optimized for low-bandwidth and 3G handsets.
