BBC News to power daytime news summaries with OmniBus iTX NEWS

BBC News will use the OmniBus iTX NEWS to broadcast daytime news summaries beginning in the second quarter of this year.
BBC News will use the software-based iTX playout and automation system for the two-minute national news summaries broadcast throughout the day between major news programs. The system will be integrated with the network's Quantel servers and Jupiter asset management system.
The iTX NEWS system offers the ability to take edits to air without prior rendering. Graphics, audio and video effects, stills and captions are generated in real time. Supporting multiple formats, iTX NEWS allows users to ingest and edit together SD and HD sources and combine them in the same playlist with non-broadcast material, such as security footage and user-generated content, with real-time format conversion and effects rendering.
The iTX architecture streamlines the output of multiple versions of the same playlist for SD, HD, Internet streaming, mobile TV and other platforms, with automatic transcoding and distribution of content.
The system includes media acquisition, asset tracking and logging tools, browse capabilities and Windows Media encoding for news streaming. Content can be acquired from a wide variety of sources, including Avid, Final Cut Pro, live ingest, digital news delivery services and viewer-generated sources.
