KJTV-TV, the FOX affiliate in Lubbock, TX, has installed 19 AJA Video Systems FS1 universal HD and SD, audio and video frame synchronizers and converters to support its transition to HD.
KJTV-TV has broadcast the FOX network since its launch in 1986. Besides FOX, the station’s studios are home to affiliates of the AccuWeather Channel, MyNetworkTV, The CW, Telemundo and four radio stations.
The station is in the process of building multiple master controls to support operation of the five separate affiliates, said station engineer Winn Boedeker. According to Boedeker, the AJA FS1 converters, together with other products, are being integrated with each of the broadcaster’s routers to assist in “moving all of our stations to either SD or HD master control.”
For HD, the station is using the FS1 to convert signals to 720p and to provide HD to local cable companies in the formats they require, he added.
The FS1 is a universal HD and SD audio and video frame synchronizer and converter. It can simultaneously support HD and SD video in 10-bit broadcast quality video and 24-bit audio.
