Meredith, one of the largest TV station groups in the United States and an early adopter of studio production automation technology, has now deployed Grass Valley Ignite integrated production systems at six of its 10 TV markets, according to a company announcement released last week in Amsterdam at IBC2009.
Ignite HD is now on-air at WSHM, the CBS affiliate in Springfield, MA; WHNS, the FOX affiliate in Greenville, SC; WFSB, the CBS affiliate in Hartford, CT; WNEM, the CBS affiliate in Saginaw, MI; WSMV, the NBC affiliate in Nashville, TN; and KVVU, the FOX affiliate in Las Vegas.
Other Meredith stations currently in the process of deploying Ignite systems are KCTV, the CBS affiliate in Kansas City, MO, and KPTV, the FOX affiliate in Portland, OR. KPHO, the CBS affiliate in Phoenix, AZ, is due to roll out Ignite in 2010.
To date, more than 100 Ignite automated control room systems have been installed worldwide as stations. The Grass Valley Ignite HD system is available with one to four M/Es, up to 32 control ports, and is completely scalable from 24 to 96 video inputs and 24 to 96 audio inputs.
The control room system offers an integrated Grass Valley Kayak HD video switcher and optional audio mixer that simplify production and allow a single operator to run an entire newscast.
