Meredith Broadcasting to equip station news operations with P2 HD ENG cameras

Meredith Broadcasting Group has signed an agreement with Panasonic Broadcast to supply P2 HD solid-state camcorders groupwide to its 13 stations producing local news.
The Meredith Broadcasting Group, part of Meredith Corp. in Des Moines, IA, includes stations in top-25 markets such as Atlanta, Phoenix and Portland, OR, and reaches more than 10 million U.S. households.
Throughout the next two years, Meredith stations will purchase up to an estimated 250 ENG-style AJ-HPX2000 2/3in and AG-HPX500 2/3in P2 HD camcorders. In most cases, the stations will upgrade from existing Panasonic DVCPRO ENG gear. Several Meredith stations will also acquire Panasonic AK-HC931B and AK-HC3500 HD studio cameras as they transition to HD news production.
The Meredith TV stations affected include: WGCL-TV (CBS), Atlanta; KPHO-TV (CBS), Phoenix; KPDX-TV (MYN), Portland, OR; KPTV (FOX), Portland, OR; WFSB-TV (CBS), Hartford-New Haven, CT; WSMV-TV (NBC) Nashville, TN; KCTV (CBS), Kansas City, MO; KSMO (MYN), Kansas City, MO; WHNS-TV (FOX), Greenville-Spartanburg-Anderson, SC-Asheville, NC; WNEM-TV (CBS), Flint-Saginaw, MI; KVVU-TV (FOX), Las Vegas, NV; and WSHM, (CBS), Springfield, MA.
