MRC introduces AMG1000 for ENG TCP/IP routing, cellular connectivity

Microwave Radio Communications (MRC) unveiled at NAB2008 its new solutions for TCP/IP routing and wide-area cellular connectivity between remote electronic newsgathering (ENG)/outside broadcast (OB) locations and the broadcast studio.
The AMG1000 Advanced Mobile Gateway provides remote connectivity and LAN extension capabilities. It creates IPSec Virtual Private Network tunnels between the remote ENG/OB vehicle and the studio via an EvDO 3G wireless cellular or 802.11b/g WiFi connections.
The AMG1000 integrates an Ethernet switch, TCP/IP router and internal cellular amplifier. A GPS receiver option for optimized resource deployment is also available.
The IPRX advanced IP processor forms the studio side of the IP-based workflow. It recombines the IP packets from within the high-throughput ASI stream transmitted over the microwave link from the ENG or OB vehicle. In addition to de-encapsulation, the IPRX provides an ASI out feed and offers monitoring and control capabilities.
