Walter Cronkite School of Journalism students communicate with Clear-Com

A student at Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism uses Clear-Com’s CellCom digital wireless intercom system to assist with a newscast.
The students at the newly constructed Walter Cronkite School of Journalism, a recent addition to Arizona State University’s downtown Phoenix campus, are communicating via a comprehensive intercom system from Clear-Com Communication Systems.
The new 223,000sq-ft school opened in August 2008 after breaking ground with Walter Cronkite himself in February 2007. When the school opened, the Clear-Com intercom system was in place serving as the main communications hub for its print and broadcast news operations. Clear-Com provided some of the equipment as a donation.
Designed to keep student reporters and faculty members connected anywhere throughout the facility, the school is linked via multiple Eclipse Digital Matrix frames with V-Series user panels as well as the CellCom digital wireless intercom system.
While the school has furnished its facility with Clear-Com products, it is also gaining firsthand knowledge as Clear-Com technicians visit with students at the school to teach the importance of intercoms for news operations and offer instruction on how to use the technology.
Students at the journalism school use the Clear-Com system between six and 18 hours a day. The equipment is used during course instruction as well as during actual newscasts and special broadcast events. Recently, students used the Clear-Com system for live coverage of the presidential election.
