‘CBS Evening News’ relies on Spyder video processors

CBS News turned to a pair of Vista Systems Spyder video processors to feed a Christie 16x9 projection screen behind the set, an LED display in front of the news desk and plasma screens on the set of “The CBS Evening News with Katie Couric.”

CBS needed a system that could drive the LED and projection solutions as well as provide keying capabilities and deliver signals to rotating plasmas.

The Spyders are networked and controlled via Vista Systems software. A Ross Video SDI router interfaces with the Spyders to deliver any source on the router to any display. The Spyders allow the display of live feeds and other news clips as well as a looping CBS logo and additional show graphics.
