A new government-owned TV channel in Ecuador, which is scheduled to launch in June, will commence operations with a digital, nearly tapeless infrastructure for news production.

Ecuador TV has signed a contract with vsn to supply vsnautorec ingest servers for programmed satellite feeds; a central storage server for news production; the vsnnews newsroom computer system (NRCS) and live playout system; vsn character generator; the vsnprompter teleprompter; and vsncreaTV scheduling system.

Journalists working for the new channel will be able to share content stored on the central storage server while preparing their stories. They will work on Sony Vegas nonlinear editors. News footage will be captured with newly acquired Sony XDCAM camcorders.

Ecuador TV also has acquired the vsnarchive solution for integration with a Sony PetaSite robot with proxy operation to support original stored content retrieval.
