FCC publishes franchising order, rulemaking

The FCC released to the public this week its December 2006 Report and Order and Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking intended to eliminate barriers erected by local franchising authorities that make it difficult for cable competitors to enter the market.

The public release opens a comment period for the public. Comments are due 30 days after publication in the Federal Register. Reply comments are due 45 days after their publication in the Federal Register.
