WUSA-TV to unveil HD local news

WUSA-TV in Washington, D.C., will go on-air this spring with local news produced in high-definition news operations.

The Gannett-owned CBS affiliate has purchased new studio cameras, re-wired the station and is building a new news set and graphics for the HD news roll out.

WUSA-TV plans to originate all studio news content in HD. Field reports will be shot in SD and upconverted for insertion into newscasts.

According to the station, 35 hours of locally produced news per week will originate in high-definition television.

WUSA-TV will join KUSA-TV in Denver, another Gannett-owned station, and a handful of others that are offering local news in HD.
