RTNDF holds News & Terrorism Workshop for media, first responders in Kansas City

The second in a series of 10 News & Terrorism: Communicating in a Crisis workshops took place Sept. 21 in Kansas City, MO.

The workshops, produced by the Radio and Television News Directors Foundation in association with the National Academies and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, examine communication during an emergency — what works and what needs work.

They also provide scientific background information on potential terrorist threats and guidance on how journalists and public information officers can better prepare for the future.

The remaining workshops include:

  • Portland, OR, Oct. 14;
  • Philadelphia, Oct. 26;
  • Miami, Dec. 9;
  • Austin, TX January 2005;
  • Atlanta, March 2005;
  • San Francisco, April 2005;
  • Denver, June 2005;
  • Boston, July 2005
