Russia’s Channel One has begun using the Front Porch Digital DIVArchive system as part of its newly renovated news production workflow.

Based in Moscow, Channel One is Russia’s most widely viewed TV station, featuring 30 news bulletins per day, international programming and its own productions, which include some of Russia’s most popular feature films.

At Channel One, DIVArchive middleware enables a unified content storage management (CSM) system, allowing content to be ingested, stored, managed, converted and made available to newsroom, editing system and digital media workflow applications.

At Channel One, the DIVArchive solution consists of one Manager, which maintains the database, manages application requests and controls storage resources, and eight Actors, which move content between media servers and storage in a Sun StorageTek SL8500 tape library with eight T10000 tape drives. As configured, the DIVArchive can sustain throughputs as high as 7680Mb/s.

The DIVArchive system was installed by Moscow-based Okno-TV and went on air in late 2007.
