Sahara TV uses vid’linkMOBILE for U.S. presidential elections

India’s Sahara TV used Beehive Systems’ laptop-based newsgathering solution to send exclusive video coverage of the 2004 U.S. presidential election for its news special “Vote America.”

The 30-minute show, which aired election week, featured footage from the election. The network used the vid’linkMOBILE laptop newsgathering system to transfer between 30 and 40 video feeds over non-conventional media, such as a dial up Internet connection.

The vid’linkMOBILE codec performs video compression that maintains image quality. Sahara TV’s use of the vid’linkMOBILE system saved the network nearly 80 percent of the cost of transferring video via traditional media, such as satellites.
