WMTW-TV upgrades automation with Sundance Digital

WMTW-TV, the Hearst-Argyle Television ABC affiliate in Portland, ME, has begun using a Sundance Digital FastBreak NXT automation system to manage a second channel of programming and to improve on-air efficiency.

The addition is allowing WMTW-TV to integrate SQL database management, along with frame-accurate control of two Leitch VR440 servers, tape transports, switchers, routers and other peripherals.

According to Bill Greep, station director of engineering, WMTW-TV’s previous database architecture was outmoded. The new system provides control of Channel 8 and WMTW-TV’s direct-to-cable Channel 9.

The FastBreak NXT Automation system is designed to manage information, control content and provide a complete TV master control solution.
