FOX Television Pittsburgh, PA, affiliate WPGH-TV and NBC affiliate WPXI-TV have formed a news partnership that will let the latter produce a one-hour newscast seven days each week at 10 p.m. for the former.
The Sinclair Broadcast Group-owned WPGH will begin airing the Cox Television-owned WPXI-TV’s Channel 11 News Jan. 30.
According to WPXI vice president and general manager Ray Carter, the partnership will allow the station to use its infrastructure to better serve WPGH news viewers. WPXI plans to add more people to produce the 10 p.m. newscast for WPGH.
WPXI has invested in the resources necessary to provide Pittsburgh with the level of news quality area viewers expect, said WPGH general manager Alan Frank. WPGH will benefit competitively, he said.
