WSAW-TV selects Omneon SPECTRUM as part of rebuild

With a 170-hour storage capacity, the Omneon SPECTRUM video server system will let WSAW-TV use the server like a tape machine.

CBS affiliate WSAW-TV in Wausau, WI, has acquired an Omneon SPECTRUM video server system as part of a complete master control rebuild and upgrade.

With a 170-hour storage capacity, the system will let the station use the server like a tape machine. It also will support future integration with the newsroom's nonlinear editing system.

The system will sit at the center of the station's operations, providing storage for its commercial library, as well as storage and playout for syndicated programs and a variety of other media assets.

The new server will operate with Sundance’s FastBreak automation to provide tapeless storage and playout to drive the station's updated digital infrastructure.
