"We are thrilled that Suresh has joined Omneon," said Lawrence Kaplan, who has acted as interim president and CEO at Omneon since May 2008 and now returns to his role as vice chairman of the board. "Suresh brings a great balance of leadership and product management knowledge to the company, and we look forward to his guiding Omneon to the next level."
"I respect Omneon tremendously for its integrity as a company, its customer focus, and its position in the market," said Vasudevan. "I look forward to working with the entire Omneon team. Together we can set out to achieve even greater growth."
Vasudevan's career at NetApp spanned nearly a decade. He held a number of senior executive positions, beginning in corporate development, moving on to lead product management, and eventually heading up all product operations. As a key driver of NetApp's product strategy, he played an instrumental role enabling NetApp to successfully expand its product portfolio beyond the network-attached storage (NAS) market into the storage area network (SAN) and disk-based backup markets.
Prior to his tenure at NetApp, Vasudevan worked at the management consulting firm McKinsey & Co. in New Delhi, Mumbai, and Chicago as a senior engagement manager focusing on product marketing, operations, and marketing strategy.
