Founded by Ross Video, openGear is an open standard for a modular, 2RU frame that can house card modules of any type from a number of manufacturers for plug-and-play assembly of a video control system in broadcasting production operations. openGear also provides the platform for a Web-based control system that allows for quick and easy monitoring and control of openGear frames and modules on the network. With the two new modules, Telecast is providing the fiber optic component for a complete openGear rack mount solution.
“By enabling our customers to build their projects into a single frame standard that supports a wide range of industry solutions, openGear is providing them with the freedom and flexibility to choose the best technology for their particular applications,” said Richard Cerny, president, Telecast Fiber Systems. “With our participation in the openGear initiative, we can add our own solutions to the supported cards from other manufacturers to provide customers with more complete, turnkey solutions.”
The HD-SDI module set, which includes part numbers OG-TX292-A and OG-RX292, is currently available from Telecast Fiber Systems. The SDI + 2 AES module set, with part numbers OG-TX269-A and OG-RX269, will be available for purchase by late spring.
