Vassil Lefterov, Managing Partner and CEO of PlayBox Technology speaks to Broadcast Engineering about the latest broadcast automation products they are showing at IBC2013.
At the show Playbox has launched their newsroom computer system dubbed NewsRoomBox. Designed for conventional linear news broadcasts and for web delivery.
NewsRoomBox can be used to unite and process content from an exceptionally wide range of sources including live Newswire, RSS and Atom feeds. Playout Servers, CG Generators and Teleprompters may be controlled directly from the web-browser-based NewsRoomBox “Rundown “operating screen. Control of AirBox, TitleBox and external routers may be performed either offline or during live transmission. Multiple AirBox playout and TitleBox interactive CG and graphic servers are also supported.
The processed output from NewsRoomBox can be profiled for output to tickers, teletext, web, social media, blogs, mobile television receivers, Connected TV and OTT. All news sources and output formats can be handled within a single workflow.
SocialMediaBox integrates playout systems with social media and includes facilities like censorship.
Lefterov also hinted at new releases for NAB2014 including two updated "engines". One is Production AIrBox and the second a new 4K engine running ingest, playout and graphics. It will be the backbone of future products and will meet demands from the emerging 4K market.
Asked when broadcasters will want to air 4K, Lefterov commeneted "For us, it is sufficient that production is already based on 4K, so lots of people will need 4K before it is distributed by broadcasters. We are firm believers in 4K."
