I first got to know the folks at iZotope in 2011, as the company celebrated its 10th anniversary. The brainchild of a pair of MIT grads, I reviewed iZotope’s flagship product, RX, and found it to be a sophisticated application with a set of tools (Denoiser, Declipper, Declicker, Hum Removal and Spectral Repair) aimed squarely at the audio post market. On the price/performance scale, this product rated quite highly.
iZotope has just released a new product, Insight. While I haven’t had a chance to put this product through the paces, Insight, which features a metering suite, is also clearly designed with the post production market in view. Loudness calculation, peak detection and offline loudness calculation are offered. Loudness monitoring obviously has become a critical concern, and Insight lets the user export documents proving that outputted audio is in compliance with all regulations.
