Harris to introduce HD encoder for NetVX

The new NetVX MPEG-2 HD Encoder is a single module that plugs into the compact 5RU or 1RU NetVX chasses.

Harris’ Broadcast Communications Division will unveil high-definition capability for its NetVX integrated high-speed networking platform at NAB2005.

Supporting fast-growing demands for high-definition content, the new NetVX MPEG-2 HD Encoder is contained on a single module that plugs into the compact (5RU or 1RU "starter system") NetVX chasses.

The HD Encoder supports multiple HD video formats, including 1080i/29.97, 720p/59.94, and 1080i/25 and both standard 4:2:0 and 4:2:2 professional profiles. The MPEG-2 HD Encoder will ship in May. Its plug-and-play design ensures easy upgradeability of NetVX systems already in operation.

A second enhancement will be a Transrating Transport Stream Multiplexer (TMX) module. Fully integrated with the NetVX multi-service video networking platform, the Transrating TMX allows content providers and broadcasters to optimize bandwidth usage while maintaining full video quality.
