At NAB2005, Vela will introduce the real-time high-definition Argus HD encoder. The encoder supports frame-accurate 4:2:0 and 4:2:2 encoding, HD-SDI input, all ATSC standards, embedded audio in the SDI stream, and Dolby Digital.
The encoder simplifies the process of creating and storing HD MPEG streams by eliminating the need for individual products to both create and store the content.
Argus HD also supports VBR/CBR encoding, closed captioning, 3:2 pulldown detection, and support for all frame rates and resolutions. Unlike time-consuming software-based HD encoders, the PCI board level Argus HD works in real time, further enhancing its value to users.
