Apantac multiviewers used during World Games 2009

Tahoma multiviewers from Apantac, a developer of image and signal processing equipment, were used in July to handle signal monitoring for the World Games 2009 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

The multiviewers were installed inside the main media center and provided live transmission while serving as the central operational, technical, production and administrative base for the World Games broadcast operations.

The World Games took place in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, July 16-26, and is the first international multisport event to be held in Taiwan (and the largest event in the history of Kaohsiung).

Public Television Services (PTS), the host broadcaster for the World Games 2009, used the Apantac multiviewers for the extensive signal monitoring of incoming feeds from the different sports venues. Tahoma LE-16 HD multiviewers took feeds from venue cameras and displayed the multiple images on large displays for the technical staff to monitor the events. Up to 16 feeds could be displayed on a single display, providing the capability to simultaneously view multiple sources.

The Tahoma series of 3Gb/s multiviewers can automatically detect four to 32 video inputs (HD/SD-SDI/composite), supports DVI, HDMI and VGA outputs up to 2048 x 1080 (including 1080p), and includes built-in video and audio alarm detection. The multiviewer also offers a built-in Cat X extender, which allows digital 1080p signals to be extended up to 115ft. The combination of a multiviewer and built-in Cat X extender in a single solution helps reduce overall equipment costs and eliminates any equipment compatibility issues that may arise.
