Codex Digital has launched a lightweight, high-resolution portable field recorder for HD, 2K and 4K broadcast television and motion picture production.

The new Codex Portable is a lightweight disk recorder capable of working with any high-end digital camera — from HD to 4K at cinema quality — and delivering the material seamlessly to any post-production workflow.

The compact Codex Portable can be used for run-and-gun broadcast production and also creates new opportunities for multicamera production.

Using visually lossless compression, the Codex Portable has the ability to record from two 4:4:4 cameras simultaneously. It can do so independently for camera A and B shoots or in situations where the two cameras are locked together for 3-D stereoscopic projects.
