DIRECTV has extended its conditional access (CA) technology agreement with NDS through June 2013.

NDS, a provider of CA for pay television, has been contracted to continue to provide CA in the satellite operator’s U.S. and Latin America services.

NDS’ VideoGuard CA technology offers a choice of solutions for pay-TV providers using any platform. From a single unified headend, operators can deliver secure content and services over any infrastructure including satellite, cable TV, broadband IPTV and mobile TV, to any device.

Broadcasters and service providers can now use a variety of devices: set-top box, PC, portable media player, and mobile phones. Over 78 million subscribers use VideoGuard.
