TV One, the Jakarta-based 24/7 news and sports station, has installed a Dalet News Suite for its news and sports channel, as part of a digital upgrade to its production and playout infrastructure. The file-based workflow is critical to TV One’s strategy of getting news on the air fast and first. The installation enabled the channel to execute its program format change on an extremely short timeline.

At TV One‚ journalists can write stories, preview, select and edit their video and record voice-overs right at their desktops. Producers can continually update the rundown, while the system automatically synchronizes last-minute changes with the playout server.

Dalet News Suite runs on the company’s media asset management platform, DaletPlus. Integrated production and playout capabilities combined with the media asset management system’s file migration and conversion technology offer TV One a comprehensive media sharing workflow.

The facility is equipped with more than 30 workstations connected via Gigabit Ethernet with a 10TB NetApp device for production storage. Six ingest workstations handle incoming video feeds as well as ingest from Panasonic P2 cameras used in field reporting. Other workstations are used for rundown management, writing text and video production.

The majority of the daily news video editing is done at the desktop with Dalet MediaCutter. For the more advanced, promotional editing, Apple Final Cut Pro systems are used in tandem with the Dalet system. The entire system is integrated with an Omneon Spectrum Media Deck server, giving TV One accurate control over production playout. Dalet technology is also tightly integrated tightly with the channel’s teleprompter and Orad graphics system as well as its Xendata archive system.
