Irdeto rolls out CAS 3 renewable conditional access solution

At IBC2009, Irdeto unveiled Irdeto Conditional Access System Version 3 (CAS 3), a hardware platform, software technology and cryptography system that delivers secure, renewable conditional access.
Irdeto CAS 3 includes updated headend components, such as the Irdeto Key Management System, Irdeto Key Server and Irdeto Premium smart card. Fully backward compatible, the solution supports all deployed Irdeto smart cards and set-top boxes.
Designed as a protection model for large and midsized operators needing advanced security to protect high value content formats, Irdeto CAS 3 offers built-in recoverability, future-proof security and asymmetric cryptography, tamper-resistant hardware, flash-based smart card and countermeasures against control word sharing.
