The new Sennheiser MKE 1 clip-on microphone comes with an anti-kink sleeve to increase the life of the Kevlar-reinforced cable.

Sennheiser will introduce the MKE 1, its latest professional clip-on microphone, at IBC2008.

Particular care was taken to ensure the microphone capsule was fully protected from moisture, so the MKE 1 can hold its own in harsh live conditions.

Sennheiser has developed optimal protective measures for the MKE 1. The clip-on microphone can be provided with an outer cover, a multipurpose cap that diverts any humidity past the microphone and doubles as a windshield. From within, a thin, acoustically open stainless steel membrane protects the capsule.

The anti-kink sleeve also has been improved to increase the life of the Kevlar-reinforced cable. With a diameter of 1mm, the cable is resistant to handling noise, while a special plastic coating ensures it tangles less easily.
