Utah Scientific adds two routers to UTAH-400 series

A UTAH-400 series router from Utah Scientific.

Utah Scientific has released two new routers in its UTAH-400 series. The new UTAH-400 TDM is based on a time-division multiplexing architecture and is designed specifically for large audio installations, while the new UTAH-400/32 digital routing switcher delivers all the features of the family in a smaller matrix.

In the UTAH-400 TDM's architecture, input signals are multiplexed into one or more buses that are then distributed to output cards where the appropriate signal is extracted and sent along to the output port. This approach is well suited to larger systems (256 x 256) because its linear expansion mode is more beneficial in these than in the traditional crosspoint-based mode.

The UTAH-400/32 digital routing switcher, which offers matrix sizes from 8 x 8 to 32 x 32, is housed in a compact 2RU frame that includes dual power supplies and dual crosspoint/controller cards. Even in the smaller frame, the full range of I/O options is available, including analog I/O cards for system flexibility. Because of the UTAH-400/32's eight-port I/O cards, smaller matrices can be expanded cost effectively.
