Avid Technology has unveiled an end-to-end HD news solution that enables broadcasters to produce HD programming more cost-effectively.
With the new Avid solution, broadcasters can acquire, edit and network as well as manage assets, playback and control functionality of Sony XDCAM HD (long GOP HD MPEG-2) content. By offering native support for the XDCAM HD system, Avid has removed unnecessary transcoding processes and allowed users to work with a high-quality HD codec.
The HD news solution consists of the new AirSpeed Multi Stream production server (version 1.0), an updated version of the NewsCutter software (version 7.5), the Avid Interplay production asset management system (version 1.6) and Avid Unity shared storage.
The company also introduced the iNEWS Instinct 2.0 audio and video editing and scripting solution as well as the iNEWS Command 2.0 newsroom automation and control solution.
