Audio Video Technologies (AVT) will premiere the MAGIC SP2 surround processing downmixing system at IBC2009 next month in Amsterdam.
The Institut für Rundfunktechnik (IRT) has developed a new method of downmixing relying on an algorithm to avoid or compensate for distracting effects. AVT’s MAGIC SP2 uses the IRT algorithm as a key component as well as powerful signal processors to deliver real-time performance.
MAGIC SP2 has three separate digital AES3 audio interfaces for the input of 5.1 multichannel sound, which is additionally looped through to three digital AES3 outputs. The output of the stereo downmix sound signal is available at the analog XLR audio interfaces or, to guarantee optimum quality, at a digital AES3 interface. Headphones can be connected to the front of the unit to monitor the downmix signal and the multichannel audio inputs.
