Broadcom adds new HD decoder SoCs

Broadcom has expanded its IP set-top box family of system-on-a-chip solutions with a range of highly integrated SoCs.

These new SoCs will enable manufacturers to design and deploy next-generation hybrid cable, terrestrial and digital subscriber line (DSL) IP STB products for the connected digital home. The SoCs offer a streamlined feature set targeting single, multiformat HD decode, including support for China's audio/video standard.

The new SoC family builds upon the BCM7405 premium IPTV chip. These new devices deliver complementary, streamlined feature sets for mid-range and thin client applications, supporting single or multi-room TV delivery and distribution.
