The Harris Atlas series of high-power TV transmitters is being installed as part of BTC’s upgrade of its TV infrastructure across Bulgaria.

Harris is supplying nine Atlas series high-power TV transmitters to the Bulgarian Telecommunications Company (BTC Group), headquartered in Sofia, Bulgaria. The new transmitters are part of BTC’s upgrade of its TV (and radio) infrastructure across Bulgaria, in anticipation of the upcoming transition of its terrestrial network to DVB-T.

BTC selected Harris Atlas TV transmitters ranging from 10kW to 40kW, all of which are digital-ready and can be easily upgraded in the field. With the support of the local Harris dealer, NewTek, Harris will take out the existing transmitters and install the new transmitters, while also providing on-site training and commissioning.

Rumen Marinov, functional director at BTC, said the new transmitters will result in lower operating costs and enhanced performance. BTC Group is one of the largest private companies in Bulgaria and the main telecommunications operator and broadcasting network provider in the country.
