The Shawnee Mission School District in Kansas is broadcasting instructional and educational productions and student programming to its 50 district schools and to the subscribers of Time Warner Cable in Johnson County, Kansas, via a new TV master control automation system designed and installed by system integrator Burst.

The technology employed includes an Evertz Quartz routing switcher, VIP multi-image viewer and various modular format converters; an Omneon MediaDeck video server networked with both Apple and Windows nonlinear editors; Chyron ChyTV graphics engines; and an NVerzion automation system.

Headquartered in Denver, CO, Burst provided engineering design, documentation and integration services for the project, which launched in early December.

Daily broadcasts from Indian Creek Technology Center on Time Warner Cable provide teachers with instructional resources and educational programming for the classroom and district-produced programs highlight activities and initiatives in the schools. Students in radio and TV classes at the district’s five high schools tape, edit, and produce their unique views of their own campus.
