Digital Film Technology to unveil SCANITY film scanner

Post-production solutions provider DFT (Digital Film Technology) will launch SCANITY, a new scanner featuring fast, smooth film handling, a high degree of steadiness and versatility, at IBC2009.

Among the new scanner’s features is Time Delay Integration (TDI) sensor technology for 4K scanning up to 15fps and 2K scanning up to 25fps. A precision roller gate and a continuous motion-capture film transport avoid mechanical stress and provide smooth, safe film handling.

Infrared-illuminated perforation detection provides touch-free optical pin registration for image steadiness. Integrated, dedicated spatial image processing manages scaling and formatting before material is stored on local or centralized storage.

SCANITY uses LED light sources with a specific selection of spectral wavelengths, which are switchable depending on the film stock, for matching to the correct colorimetry of film dyes.
