ESE introduces HD-SDI time code reader/inserter

ESE has introduced the HD-488, a time code reader, generator and inserter for HD-SDI video.

Linear time code (LTC) and RP-188 time code are both read and generated by the HD-488. The unit also accepts a multitude of HD formats. SD is available by specifying the model HD-488/SD. This will allow the unit to also accept 4:2:2 (525 and 625 line) digital video signals.

The inserter mode provides the ability to superimpose time and/or user bits onto video with alphanumeric characters. As many as 30 characters of text may also be superimposed onto the video. Selection of the information to be displayed can be viewed on up to three different windows. The three windows are independent of each other and may be blanked.

The video input and output are accessible via rear-mounted BNC connectors. A 16 x 2 character LCD shows the current time and status. Time code input and output connectors on the rear panel are XLR. The HD-488 is housed in a single height rack mount enclosure, which is black anodized.
