Over several months, Orad Hi-Tec Systems will install its ProSet virtual studio systems at 14 production facilities operated by Canada’s Global TV network. The first order has been placed for a $1 million virtual set. At each location, the system will be integrated with Global TV’s existing ENPS newsroom computer system.

Global TV is a wholly owned subsidiary of CanWest Global Communication, one of Canada’s largest communication companies. The company will use the Orad virtual technology to streamline production and make its newly upgraded studios more flexible and thereby cost-effective to operate. Installing the solutions will result in substantial savings in operating costs and improve the overall look and capabilities of Global TV’s local and national news telecasts.

ProSet will enable Global TV to implement a hub and spoke architecture that will allow the remote production of virtual studios. The ProSet solution will also facilitate a smooth upgrade path to HD, as well as the ability to integrate multiple live video streams and video clips.

The initial a $1 million investment in the ProSet virtual set is expected to generate $2.5 million in revenue in the first year of operation.
