Globalstor and Assimilate offer stereo 3-D production tools

Globalstor and Assimilate are combining their technologies for effective solutions for high-resolution content management.

The new ExtremeStor-DI model developed by Globalstor integrates Assimilate’s Scratch digital intermediate process solution for the production of stereo 3-D content in live applications, such as sports.

Able to store up to 36TB within a 6RU chassis, ExtremeStor-DI can process dual streams of 2K HD content, which is ideally suited for stereo 3-D. This allows users to manipulate and view content in real time in an excess of 24 frames per second at the highest resolution possible. It also features a pair of dual core or optional quad core Xeon or Opteron CPUs with 3GB of RAM, hot-swappable mirrored OS drives, redundant hot-swappable power supplies and hot swap fans. The system is also equipped with 36 SATA drives that deliver read performance in excess of 1200MB/s and write performance in excess of 900MB/s.

At the heart of the ExtremeStor-DI system, Scratch software provides a real-time, resolution-independent workflow solution geared toward digital intermediate processing. Scratch delivers post-production capabilities that include data management, review/playback, assemble/edit, primary and secondary color grading, finishing, and mastering to any format. The software can be used for imaging projects of 2K/4K film, digital film, HD/SD and stereoscopic 3-D.
