Sportcast GmbH has ordered two new compact OB vans from Grass Valley to help cover all matches of Bundesliga and Second Bundesliga in Germany as well as the DFB Cup games of DFB (Deutscher Fußball Bund). The OB van competence center of Grass Valley in Weiterstadt, Germany, is managing the whole project, from system design to staff training.

The two OB vans are identical, built on 40ft Mercedes Benz truck bases and each equipped with six Grass Valley LDK 8000 Elite HD cameras and an LDK 8300 HD Live Super SloMo camera. A 3M/E Kayenne XL video production switcher package including the new Kayenne XL control panel, recently introduced by Grass Valley, provides the main production control with another 2M/E Kayenne XL panel to allow simultaneous secondary production control.

The trucks’ infrastructure relies on a Grass Valley Trinix router with the capacity for up to 256 inputs and outputs with Grass Valley GeckoFlex modular products. Other equipment in the turnkey contract includes a Lawo audio console, Riedel intercom and Fujinon HD lenses.

The order for these two units was placed in March; both vehicles should be available for the start of the upcoming soccer season in the fall.
