Grass Valley unveils integrated K2-, Edius-based shared environment

Thomson announced during NAB2006 the integration of its Grass Valley K2 media server and client storage system with the Edius nonlinear craft editor.

The Grass Valley solution enables users to go directly from editing to playout and to seamlessly manage and store assets across departments without ever having to transcode due to the flexible, multiformat architecture of the K2 systems and to the ability of the Edius and K2 platforms to handle MPEG, IMX, DVCPRO and HD-MPEG natively.

This collaborative workgroup system enables multiple Edius craft editors to share content stored on the K2 server and seamlessly collaborate on specific clips or entire projects — and enables users to eliminate transcoding as they search for, store and manage assets across different departments.
